Made in collaboration with the Bay Area skate shop, the Atlas x Nike Dunk High SB ‘Lost at Sea’ references a maritime mishap from 1990, when a freighter ship headed to Los Angeles from South Korea lost its cargo during a storm.
The goods, including over 61,000 pairs of Nikes, would eventually wash up on various coastlines, including the Air Flight 90 in the San Francisco Bay.
That shoe serves as the design inspiration for this collaboration, featuring an off-white cracked leather upper with contrasting blue accents and a pre-yellowed midsole.
Atlas branding on the tongue mimics Nike’s retro Flight logo.
The company was founded on January 25, 1964, as Blue Ribbon Sports, by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight, and officially became Nike, Inc. on May 30, 1971. The company takes its name from Nike, the Greek goddess of victory. Nike markets its products under its own brand, as well as Nike Golf, Nike Pro, Nike+, Air Jordan, Nike Blazers, Air Force 1, Nike Dunk, Air Max, Foamposite, Nike Skateboarding, Nike CR7, and subsidiaries including Brand Jordan, Hurley International and Converse.
